Terms
Version 1.0, last updated November 5, 2026.
These terms are between you (the person or organisation that buys) and The Vera Standard, Hyderabad, India ("we"). They cover the Countaline founding membership and, once it opens, your use of Countaline. We wrote them in plain words on purpose.
1. The founding membership
- Price: $99 for your first year, paid once through Gumroad.
- What you get: one organisation's use of the first version of Countaline, shipping by January 15, 2027; your price locked for as long as you stay a member; and a direct line to us while we build.
- When your year starts: on the day we open your account in the first version, not on the day you pay. You do not pay for the months you wait.
- After the first year: we will tell you the renewal price and date by email at least 30 days ahead. You choose whether to renew. As a founding member, your price stays at $99 a year for as long as you stay; if you leave and come back later, the normal price applies.
2. Our promise and refunds
- If we miss the date: if we do not ship the first version by January 15, 2027, you get a full refund. You can ask for it any time after that date, and you can also choose to wait.
- Before it ships: if you change your mind before the first version ships, write to us and we will refund you in full.
- Cancel anytime: you will not be charged again. Cancelling stops any renewal; your account stays open until the end of the year you paid for, and you can export everything before it closes.
- Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with, through Gumroad.
3. What Countaline is and is not
Countaline is a record-keeping tool for a volunteer treasurer: counts, funds, reports, statements and handover. It is not accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and it does not file anything for you. Statements and receipts list gifts or payments with dates and amounts; the wording you add, and whether a document meets any rule that applies to you, is your organisation's responsibility. Countaline does not take donations or payments.
4. Your records
- Your organisation owns its records. We keep them only to run Countaline for you, as our Data and Privacy page describes.
- You can export everything at any time.
- You are responsible for having the right to enter the people's details you add, and for inviting only the people who should see them.
5. Fair use
Please do not use Countaline to break the law, to store data you have no right to hold, or to try to get into another organisation's records or attack the service. If someone does, we may suspend that account, and we will tell the treasurer why.
6. If something goes wrong
- We work hard to keep Countaline running and your records safe, with daily backups. We cannot promise it will never be unavailable or never have a fault.
- Please keep your own exports of anything you cannot afford to lose, as you would with any software.
- As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have by law that cannot be removed.
7. Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email you at least 30 days before. If you do not agree, you can cancel and take your export with you.
